Last week TheRapBuzz.com went to see one of the most anticipated concerts of the year in London - Dilated Peoples! Back in town after way too long, we were expecting an incredible performance from the LA trio and we were not disappointed!
After entering the stage on brief solo joints, Evidence and Rakaa Iriscience blessed us with some classic Dilated material such as Back Again, Kindness For Weakness, Love and War, This Way, and of course two of their titan tracks Worst Comes to Worst and Work The Angels! And much to our reassurance and delight, Evidence performed some of his new solo material from his newest album 'Cats & Dogs' - in particular 'I Don't Need Love' and an incredible rendition of 'You' which to me was the highlight of the night - and classic joints from his previous albums/ep's like 'Chase The Clouds Away' and 'Mr.Slow Flow'! We missed him last time he was here (with the Rhymesayers' crew) so it was only right that he perform some of his 'Cats & Dogs' material - and by the way, if you haven't got the album yet sort yourself out and get it immediately!!
Of course Rakaa did his thing too treating us to a couple of songs from his solo album 'Crown of Thorns' and DJ Babu killed his scratch interlude as always! The show lasted 1 1/2 hours and despite not performing 'The Platform' (why not??...better do next time) we left with the conviction that Dilated Peoples gave us one of the best Hip Hop shows we've seen in a while! Good vibes, good music and good people! Evidence even took time out to get back to us on Twitter - mad respect to him and the whole Dilated crew for a classic show!
